Why?

Olive wood

39,5 cm x 75 cm x 41 cm

Artist’s Statement

The sculpture shows images of men lying down, which symbolises soldiers lying dead. It also speaks about unemployment, which kills the talents of our youth. The woman and child represent the abuse of women and children, and combine the story of soldiers, who are the soldiers who will protect the children and the woman. The stones symbolise the graves. The image of the beast symbolises the spirit of evil that lives in the criminals and the killers. There is also the hand with a gun. Why do we have to kill each other like animals? Even animals don’t just kill without a reason.

Looking at the wood, it was carved, showing chisel marks and the natural form of the wood, with a smooth surface. Even the blind can touch and feel the artwork.
