ARTIST’S STATEMENT

Lost in the Haze is a cinematic self-portrait composed of two images that capture a moment of introspection and vulnerability. A reflection in the mirror reflecting on his other self, who is looking down, uncertain and lost in thought, with a yellowish tint adding a sense of nostalgia, and a focus on lighting, composition, and colour palette. A viewer is invited to step into a world of introspection, exploring themes of identity and emotional depth. By using oneself as the subject, a deeply personal and intimate work is created, blurring the lines between self-perception and reality. This is a representation of one not being able to connect with oneself; the man inside not understanding what is going on in the world outside him. It can also be interpreted as multiple personalities.

This artwork is part of a series which aims to bring awareness to mental health, especially men’s and the stigma that surrounds it.
