Artist’s Statement
This sculpture represents the traditional Venda Domba dance, where elder women guide young girls and teach them about womanhood, marriage, and family responsibilities. The connected figures symbolise the passing of knowledge from one generation to the next.
The work reminds us that understanding our history and cultural traditions helps shape a stronger future. As the artist expresses, knowledge is power, and knowing where we come from helps guide where we are going.
