Artist’s Statement
Time to bow out is a photograph of a wilted, Wild African Iris captured in natural light with a macro lens. In this wilted state the flowers are more often than not overlooked and not regarded as being worthy of any attention. I enjoy photographing wilted flowers as they absorb and reflect light differently to fresh flowers. Capturing them in this way often results in an ambiguous image.
It transforms the small, wilted and dying flowers into something magical giving them new life and imbuing them with a sense of mystery and wonder.
