This work is part of my series, No Hand Can Harm or Help Me, which delves into the paradox of protection and isolation, highlighting how the walls we unfortunately must construct to ensure psychological safety can simultaneously sever intimacy, care, and help. The creation of … The captor, 2025, is a framed work of acrylic paint, wood, wax, paper, acid, and charcoal, featuring two ideas of self, represented as chairs connected by ideologically constructed world(s). Together, these chairs are trapped within a constructed world of an instrumental means-ends survival structure, with justice suspended beyond reach. These pieces reflect on the precarious nature of both physical and psychological spaces. They pose the question of what occurs when the inner landscapes of emotion, grief, and survival are occupied by structures of violence and cyclical domination.
