Artist’s Statement
Water has memory.
This collection has originated from careful observation of light and reflection. Water, our most precious resource, is the essential ingredient that evaporates the idea that we are separate forms and instils unity. Just as, on a canvas, where life is reflected back to us in a single image through the artist’s eyes, a body of water likewise reflects back an image through the eyes of nature.
Grooving along (2026) reveals water as the orchestrator of the reflected image. It is the powerful force that bends reality and our image is dependent on its flow. There is no alternative but to let go of our rigid ideas of self and sacrifice ourselves and our ideas to nature.
At first glance Water has Memory appears to be a celebration of wild spaces but on upon closer reflection it reveals the relationship between humanity and nature, with water serving as the narrator.
