Artist’s Statement
The figure gazes at the viewer showing them his mental space. Where he works, untangles, and matches ideas to understand. The bed reflects a space of comfort where the body rests while the mind enters the digital world.
The internet is a neutral energy that amplifies either the growth or destruction of the user. It exists as a neutral powerful force that can be conducted, consumed, and maintained by the user, like water. The red wall displays influential figures that shape the subject’s identity and understanding of the world. The figure’s influence is neither good nor bad, it just exists. It all depends on the conducted control of the individual, they can either grow or drown through influence. While in isolation we experience this intimate, private, repetitive experience; tangling our thoughts, beliefs, and ideas for self-validation.
The PC on the desk indicates that the figure seems to be selective about what he consumes on the internet. What doesn’t serve him, seems to be thrown away into the bin next to him. The room seems to be clean with nothing on the floor, showing discipline and maintenance.
The figure recognises that he is being shaped and does know who he is becoming. The whole space imitates his self-awareness, and the empty shelf above suggests space for intentional growth and future development. All without self-harm and self-compromise. Alone with influence showcases the person who engages with digital influence consciously and responsibly.
